Who we are

We’re Vanquis Banking Group plc – A leading specialist bank, focused on the near prime and mid cost credit markets.

The Group has been providing financial inclusion, which supports social mobility, to consumers whose needs are not well met by traditional lenders for over 140 years. We lend responsibly and provide tailored products and service propositions to 1.7 million customers throughout the UK.

Lending responsibly and acting responsibly has always been at the centre of everything we do. What’s more, helping to aid financial inclusion and social mobility for our customers and the communities they live in, is a big part of why we’re here. We offer credit cards and loans as Vanquis and Vehicle Finance as Moneybarn. All are delivered online and are built with customer flexibility in mind.

We also have a great team of colleagues working in our UK call centres and offices to support our customers and the development of more products to help meet their needs.

Our Journey

Vanquis Banking Group has a rich history dating back to 1880 when the company was founded in Bradford by Joshua Kelley Waddilove. Today, Vanquis Banking Group is a FTSE 250 company listed on the London Stock Exchange with around 1.7 million customers.

2002: Vanquis was established as part of the group as its main credit card provider.
2010: We accepted our millionth credit card customer
2011: We launched our first fixed-term saving product
2012: We won ‘Best Credit Card Provider’ for the fourth time
2013: We reached over 1,000 colleagues across the UK in London, Chatham and Bradford
2015:  We won ‘Credit Builder Card Provider of the Year’ for the first time
2016: We launched our loans product to existing customers
2018: We won ‘Credit Builder Card Provider of the Year’ for the fourth consecutive year
2019: We launched a brand new Group Blueprint and 5-year plan which our 1,600 colleagues are embedding into their every day roles
2019: We celebrated our one-millionth customer using our mobile app
2020: The Consumer Credit Division, Provident, and Satsuma is placed into a managed orderly run-off. The business closed it's doors in December 2021

2023: The name of the Group changed to Vanquis Banking Group. In line with Woolard Review, the Group made the strategic decision to focus on the mid cost credit market and evolve
